"How to Speak So School Boards Listen About the Digital Transformation"

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

School boards need to support the transformation to digital. From big picture to case studies, this presentation shows a successful approach to helping them understand. Based on a series of presentations to state and local school board associations, this session shows participants the integrated power of digital resources on iPads, including digital textbooks on iPads. Because school boards are often furthest from classroom practice, they are too often behind in the understanding of what the digital transformation of resources truly means and how much impact they can have for measurable rises in teaching and learning. This presentation will give CTO’s, superintendents, and educational technology advocates tools to share vision with their boards. Participants will learn to effectively use case studies from across the United States. They will see data from digital adoptions at pre-school, middle school, and high school level and hear from a superintendent who oversaw a digital adoption and convinced a board to expand the program. They will hear the big picture overview from a long time educational technology leader. This has proved to be an important part of building shared vision for boards. The videos, data, and the presentation itself will be available to attendees who can take and adapt it for presentation to their own boards. School board members are welcome in this presentation and there will be time to address their questions. The strengths of both one-to-one programs and many-to-one programs will shared and evaluated. Legal requirements from case study states will be discussed.
