Today's online and mobile media offers new opportunities for demand-driven and socially connected learning, but only the most activated digital learners are taking advantage of this potential. Our research found very few connections between young people’s informal and interest-driven learning and the classroom. Mobile devices and ubiquitous connectivity can support relevant and engaged learning when guided by progressive learning goals, policies, and practices.  How can we best guide, mentor and teach young people in an era of abundant information and ubiquitous social connection? And how can we do this in a way that supports the interests and identities of all learners?
